Building a better future for Pickaway County
PHASE I - Most of the previous Pickaway County Fairgrounds structures were erected in the 1940s-1960s. Those facilities were long outdated, were in poor condition, and some had become unsafe and unusable. For years the rallying cry of our community was to construct a new updated fairgrounds to give exhibitors, livestock and spectators the fair experience they deserve, as well as be able to host year-round events and activities for our community. The Pickaway County Agricultural Society and Pickaway County Commissioners partnered together to make this a reality! The revitalized Pickaway County Fairgrounds, now known as the Pickaway Agriculture and Event Center, hosted the first Pickaway County Fair in Phase I of the newly constructed facilities in June 2019! This project was funded largely by private donors who stepped up in a big way to support this important Pickaway County initiative. An empowered fundraising leadership team of passionate, enthusiastic community members was assembled to work together to engage local businesses, families and foundations to financially support the $12+ million project. Phase I included an amphitheater, multi-purpose building, show arena, a community plaza, and five livestock barns along with modern amenities that make it attractive for a multitude of events such as livestock shows, livestock sales, fundraisers, youth development and activities, concerts, festivals, trade shows, banquets, craft and vendor events and MORE.
PHASE II - The response from our community has been overwhelmingly positive! Since the structures were erected in Phase I in 2019 five of our fairs and HUNDREDS of other events have taken place at PAEC. Use of our state-of-the-art facilities are in high demand, and we are at the point where we are ready to expand and take the next step to Phase II! While Phase II has always been a part of our original plan, it is apparent that the time has come to bring it to life as the desire for affordable venues for groups to gather and to host more formal events like baby and bridal showers, graduation parties, birthday parties, banquets, weddings and receptions, and other meeting space alternatives in our growing county is very much in demand. Constructing the Event Center, an indoor two-story banquet facility structure with outdoor patios, will fulfill the next most requested needs of ways our community desires to gather locally and celebrate!
We have numerous commemorative donor opportunities and welcome you to get involved and support this immense effort. All funds will be managed through the Pickaway County Community Foundation.
